What this converter does
It converts between 20 major cryptocurrencies and 10 everyday currencies, using live prices that refresh every two minutes. Pick what you have in “From”, what you want in “To”, and enter an amount. The swap button flips the two, and “Copy link” saves the conversion as a link you can share.
You can also convert to and from satoshis (“sats”), the smallest unit of bitcoin: one bitcoin is 100,000,000 sats, so a sat is worth one hundred-millionth of bitcoin’s price. Many apps show small bitcoin amounts in sats because they’re easier to read than long decimals.
Where the price comes from
The prices come from CoinGecko, which collects prices from many exchanges and combines them into a volume-weighted average, so exchanges where more is traded count for more. It’s a fair picture of the market price, but it isn’t the exact price you’ll get.
Each exchange has its own buyers and sellers, so its price can be a little above or below the average. An exchange may also charge a fee, and its buy price is usually a little higher than its sell price (the spread). Always check the final amount on the exchange before you confirm a trade.
How much crypto prices move
Over the year to Oct 24, 2026, Bitcoin’s price ranged from $58,566.10 to $114,419.00. It moved 5% or more in a single day on 16 of 365 days, and at its worst it was 49% below its earlier high. Pick another coin above to see its own numbers.
Swings like these are normal for crypto. The SEC’s investor education office warns that crypto asset investments can be exceptionally volatile and speculative, and that the platforms where people buy, sell or lend them may lack important protections for investors.
Before you buy
Only put in money you could afford to lose entirely: that’s the SEC’s own advice for any speculative investment. Check who you’re dealing with and what protections you have if the platform fails, and compare the amount you’d receive after fees, not just the headline price. If you’re saving for something specific, such as a home deposit or an emergency fund, crypto’s swings make it a poor fit for money you’ll need on a set date.
